  • Dr. D. Michelle Bailey

    Dr. D. Michelle Bailey

    Co-Chair

    Dr. Michelle Bailey is Co-Chair of the GEMM Initiative. She is a Research Chemist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) within the United States Government. Her research focuses on development and implementation of optical diagnostic techniques for atmospheric trace-gas detection, she is a member of Optica’s Public Affairs Council, and she brings a passion for community-based science having been a Fellow with AGU’s Thriving Earth Exchange.

  • Dr. Tomohiro Oda

    Dr. Tomohiro Oda

    Co-Chair

    Dr. Tomohiro Oda is Co-Chair of the GEMM Initiative. He is a senior scientist at the Universities Space Research Association (USRA) and an adjunct professor at the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, University of Maryland, College Park. His research focuses on modeling and satellite-based mapping of carbon emissions to visually inform communities of the local emissions. He has brought together leading researchers, technology developers, and policy stakeholders as the meeting chair of the GEMM Initiative’s GEMM Asia Summit in December 2022.
